How To Buy A Dog Over The Internet

You can buy just about anything online these days, cars, groceries, a date, even a new dog. It seems strange but people purchase dogs over the internet all the time. Some from breeders clear across the country. It’s almost the new designer thing to do. Personally, I think it’s ridiculous to purchase a dog across the country when there are so many unwanted dogs right in your own backyard. Why put the poor animal in such a stressful situation for traveling? I think it’s cruel but that’s just my opinion and may not count for much. So, if you are going to purchase a dog, here are some guidelines to help make the experience a little more pleasurable for both of you.

The internet has come a long way but it still can’t quite mimic the experience of actually touching and caressing a dog you may have chosen as a potential pet. All you can do is trust that the person selling the dog is being honest with you about the dog’s temperament and demeanor. A picture says a thousand words but unless you can come face to face and interact with the pup, I’m not really sure how you can be certain that he will make the perfect match for your family. But, I digress again. So, how do you choose a dog based on a picture and a paragraph? How do you know if the seller is reputable or not?

When looking online to purchase a dog, be very wary of an ad that professes to be selling “papered” purebred pups. Does this ad come from a credible licensed breeder or is it just an individual selling his litter of puppies and claiming them to be purebred? It’s pretty tricky because pictures of purebred pups do not resemble their adult counterparts at all so just seeing pictures will not be convincing. They must show proof of AKC membership for both the parents and the puppies as having been certified as purebred. Be sure you get a certificate of authenticity from the American Kennel Club with the appropriate documentation. Do some research ahead of time so you know what you’re looking at when you receive it as these documents can be easily forged as well. Purebred dogs are big business these days and just like anything else worth scamming, this is no exception.

Before you start a random search for reputable breeders, go to the American Kennel Club website and look for the link of approved breeders. I personally would trust the AKC of doing their homework as they would not be putting up breeder’s websites if they haven’t been checked out thoroughly. Even with this knowledge however, do not go head on and purchase a dog outright without doing some checking on your own as well. Play it safe throughout the whole process and if anything feels funny about the way the breeder does business, don’t ignore that feeling. Do a little more research to find out if what they’re doing is common practice among all breeders. Pretend that you are buying a car and that you want to make the best deal possible for what you’re getting even though what you get is far more precious than just a car.

Before you consider the sale complete, have the dog checked out thoroughly by your veterinarian to ensure that he is as healthy as the breeders documents claim him to be. If there is any discrepancy, speak to the seller and discuss what (if anything) needs to be done. There is a chance that the original vet check was indeed valid, and if it is only a minor injury or slight issue, keeping the dog might not be that big of a deal, but you should have part of your purchase price refunded to offset this medical care. Be careful, know what you are looking for and be wary of any thing that sounds far too good to be true.

Introducing A Dog To A Cat Family

Jessie entered the room, the silence was deafening. One new dog face to face with the resident three cats. Thoughts of the battle of Waterloo were sounding in my head, would there be peace in the valley or all hell breaking lose? The four children were spellbound as if frozen in time. Would there be a melt down? I could feel my heart pounding for this was not the homecoming planned. Somehow Ruby, Lucy and Romeo had an esp moment and managed with the help of an open window to place themselves in a strategic position ready for the arrival of Jessie.

The new, black miniature poodle named by the previous owner Jessie, had been passed on to us due to the owner going overseas. On meeting he seemed a genuine guy, cute as a button with meaningful eyes. We had probably broken some cardinal rule, as little Jessie had never been exposed to, you guessed it cats. I was utterly convinced that after a suitable period of getting to know each other they would eventually be great mates. Well two out of three is not too bad. So here we stood all five of us wondering who was going to make the first move.

To my sheer delight Romeo the stray that had turned up and never left put his best paw forward and you could almost hear him saying. “Nice to meet you Jessie, welcome home” This took young Jessie by surprise and he jumped back and banged into the door behind him. Next came Lucy who has always seemed like the favourite Auntie in the house with a resounding meow and walked off as if nothing was amiss. Nothing quite prepared me for what was to come as Ruby the resident Queen of the house let out a horrible sounding hiss and proceeded like a tiger stalking its prey in the direction of Jessie who by now I would say was hoping the ground would swallow him up. Who to grab hold of first, this was my dilemma as I opted for Ruby, as she seemed much closer at the time. A matador facing a charging bull seemed almost a better place to be right now as I lifted the Queen high off the ground in a bid to avoid world war three.

Some moons have passed and we are still all intact no bandages have been needed and no permanent scars. My ginger boy Romeo has been a blessing in disguise, for his first day greeting with Jessie has turned into so much more. The planets were aligning round this perfect romance for these two natural brothers have made friends for this life. My walks with my poodle begin and end with Romeo, who walks with us some of the way then waits our return where we is smiling at this peculiar sight. Lucy is so happy to have a dog pal again as her previous existence was with a dog and a cat. The change in her nature from depression to joy has been a spiritual moment in time and in space..

So what of Queen Ruby did she bite the bullet and become Jessie’s friend, do not be disappointed as her stance has remained If Jessie had come into a home with only one other cat my execution may have been different and I would have considered replacing him to avoid potential chaos. But in this case my family being larger than life I have called on some genius to ensure the happiness of them both. Like a mum with a new baby I have used tactics to embrace, the differences between these children that may never be resolved. If your cats and dogs are in the trenches with their guns steadily aimed, remember you love them and god bless you for that.

Regular ear cleanings for pets is a important. This can easily be done at home thing to do. A mixture of half hydrogen peroxide and half water is a good cleaning solution. Lightly moisten a cotton swab in this mixture and clean the visible part of the pets ears. Do not use the same swab on both ears. This helps prevent transmission of something that could be in one ear to the other. This will also provide the owner with a regular inspection of the pets ears for unnatural discharge and help prevent ear infections.

The most common symptoms of mite infestation is that the animal will shake its head or scratch its ears. The more often this happens, the more of an infestation there is. This is another sign of infestation. Sometimes the blood can be fresh and not dry. Pets can also suffer from improper balance and not walking in straight lines. It is similar to humans who have inner ear problems. Mites do not only affect the area of their name, but can be anywhere. However, the animal may or may not be bothered mites that are external.

If a mite infestation does not get treated, serious side affects can occur. These include permanent hearing loss due to damage to the ear canal and ear drum, skin disease and ear infections.

Treatment is available in many forms. There are over the counter treatments. These are liquid and are put in the dogs ear. These take twenty one to thirty days. This is because they do not kill mite eggs. The time is needed to kill off all mites plus give time for the eggs to hatch and kill the new mites as well.

There are prescription treatments available from veterinarians. These can be a drops or a shot. This type of medication only takes ten to fourteen days since it does kill off mite eggs as well as adults.

If the pet has mites outside the ear canal, flea and tick medications will get rid of these. If your pet is on a regular flea treatment, external mites are not a problem.

If there are multiple pets in the house, it is important to treat all of them simultaneously. This will ensure that all mites are killed and repeat infestations do not occur. Since they are so contagious, if one pet is not treated, the cycle will just keep repeating itself.

If an animal does suffer from repeat infestations, the animal should be taken to the veterinarian. The same is true if the pet has severe symptoms or needs prescription treatment.

Ear mites are a highly contagious pest. They infect animals both in the ear canal and elsewhere on the body. It is an easy thing to treat with readily available medications. However, if left untreated, the results are serious. Learn how to treat ear mites so pets do not develop these results.

Obtaining Rock-Tight Abs

Through the years, there are a lot of poor ideas how to have a well-sculpted abs. Most of the common lures are specialized equipments and something to intake or swallowed. I can recall, Slim Fast, appeared to be having results to fat people suddenly generating a set of six-pack abs.

I wanted to stop the idea that obtaining great abs involves magic. Genetics is one of the factors in having a beautifully-shaped abs. Moreover, there are two more important factors: Diet and Exercise.

The first factor, diet, is easy. You just have to get rid of that extra fat. When you lose weight, your whole body loses weight as well, not just a part. For example, you have a large tummy. When you diet, your legs will also become slender along with your stomach. What you didn’t know is that the fat on your tummy loses faster because it is where most of your fats are and are the easiest to use. Spot reduction is not true when it comes to losing weight.

Probably you have read on this from my other posts that I have the same opinion regarding people taking in too many cabs; however I still do not agree to the Atkins diet. I suggest that your calorie intake is composed of 20% of protein, 20% of fats and 60% of carbohydrates. When you have problems losing weight effectively, be sensitive to eating less carbs and add up your protein intake a bit.

The next factor is exercise. The target is getting a 6-pack abs thus you need to do 2 steps. First is doing an hour cardio exercise everyday to speed up your metabolism, therefore using those fat fast. Next is doing an abdominal exercise to start your workouts.

One great thing on having a strong abs, aside from being better-looking, is when you toughen your core makes you tough all throughout; build better balance and your stamina. Depending on the fat you need to lose, follow these suggestions and you will see results quickly.
