Dog Obedience Training – Is It Important?
You have just gotten you new puppy home. Dog obedience training is the farthest thing form your mind. For sure you know that you will need to house train him but that should be simple enough, after all, he is a very smart dog.
You can happily see just what your life is going to be like together now that you have a new best friend. Your anxious to take him to the park with you so you can run and play together through the green meadows. There will be no need for a leash because your dog will stay right by your side and you will take him where ever you go.
Maybe he will be your son or daughter’s best friend. They will spend the summers running together and getting into mischief the way a kid and their dog are supposed to. Life is going to be great!
Then the truth comes out.
Your perfectly behaved dog will absolutely not relieve himself outside and loves lounging on your couch. He is suddenly to good for dog food and scours the counters for his feast. Your new carpet has become a digging haven.
Never mind that you bought him plenty of bones and toys to chew, the sides of your favorite recliner is the perfect chew toy. He barks all day and night and slowly but surely your hopes and dreams of owning the perfect dog has vanished.
Now what do you do?
Well even if you wanted to you can not just get rid of your monstrous dog because when he get in trouble he gets the biggest saddest eyes that he stares up at you with. He really loves you and you are really fond of him too.
If only he would be better behaved it would all be wonderful.
Well, my friend, the answer to your problem is good old fashioned dog obedience training and that does not mean going to a dog training class a handful of time with a half hearted attempt to train your dog. Your dog needs training on an on going basis but it is really not as difficult as you might think it would be. Dogs really love to please so when you two finally figure out how to properly communicate and he knows what to expect, he will go out of his way to make you happy.
